A Promised Land by Barack Obama

A Promised Land is a two-part book, the first part was released last year. It is a lengthy read with several parts and many chapters. This book covers Barack’s earlier life through his first term of his presidency. He is open about his marriage, and financial struggles which will resonate for the average person on the street. He also talks about many of the issues that his wife, Michelle Obama, discusses in her book, Becoming. Nyasha Gapa’s memoir, ‘Should I forgive?’ is an eye opening rendition that highlights the dangers of political violence in her home country of Zimbabwe.  Nyasha starts off by telling us a simple story of her home life.  She was a young woman married to the love of her life with a very young daughter who supported the MDC (movement for democratic change) party.  During the heights of political campaigns, it became dangerous to support the MDC and as such, her family and other supporters were kidnaped at night, all the women were raped and her husband was brutally beaten.
